Jewelry Care Guide
A few thoughtful habits help preserve the beauty of your diamonds, precious metal and setting.
Everyday Care
- Remove jewelry before swimming, household cleaning, gardening or activities involving knocks and pressure.
- Keep your pieces away from chlorine, household chemicals and sudden temperature changes.
- Apply cosmetics and fragrance before putting on your jewelry. Take care when stacking pieces so stones and settings do not rub against one another.
Gentle Cleaning
For diamond jewelry in good condition, gentle cleaning can remove everyday residue. Have a jeweler check a loose stone, damaged setting or unfamiliar gemstone before cleaning it at home.
- Use a bowl of lukewarm water with a little mild soap.
- Clean gently with a soft brush, without forcing the bristles against delicate prongs.
- Rinse in a separate bowl of clean water, away from an open drain.
- Pat dry with a soft, lint-free cloth.
Leave ultrasonic and steam cleaning to a jeweler who has assessed the piece. These methods are unsuitable for some gemstones and settings.
Store Each Piece Thoughtfully
Use a separate soft pouch or a compartment in a lined jewelry box for each piece. Keep chains and tennis jewelry from tangling, and protect your jewelry in a padded case when traveling. Your complimentary velvet box provides a place to keep your piece separate.
Before You Wear It
| Piece | What To Check |
|---|---|
| Rings & Eternity Bands | Look for loose stones, bent prongs or snagging. Eternity and pavé settings deserve particular care. |
| Diamond Studs | Check that each post and earring back is secure and functioning properly. |
| Tennis Bracelets & Necklaces | Check the clasp, safety catch where fitted, links and stone settings before wearing. |
If a stone moves or a fastening feels unreliable, set the piece aside and contact a jeweler for an inspection. Arrange periodic professional checks, especially for jewelry worn often.
